Girls Soccer

The Lady Jags Soccer Team will start District play tonight at Hanby against Tyler Lee. Because of the bad weather, there will be no JV game and Varsity will play at 5:30. Come show your school spirit for these girls. It's going to be an incredible game you don't want to miss!

Attention Seniors

There are still a few senior t-shirts left. If you would like to buy one, bring $15 to Mrs. Barnard in H105. If you write a check, be sure to include a driver's license #. Remember these are the only approved senior t-shirts and you can wear it any day of the week with standardized dress pants.

Blood Drive

Student Leadership is proud to announce the results from this week's blood drive: 162 people were able to donate blood and those donations equal 486 lives saved! Thank you!

Haiti Relief effort

Student leadership would like to thank all the sudents and staff who donated to the Haiti Relief Effort. We were able to put together over 200 health kits and are in the process of putting together even more. The kits are heading to a port in Louisiana and will then head viz cargo ship to Haiti. JHHS's generosity will directly help those in need.

Data Match

If you still hace a data match form, please make sure you turn it in to rs. Barnard's rom today! These forms myst be turned in today, so that they can be back in time for Valentine's day. If you don't turn in your form, you will miss the chance to find your soul mate!

Powerlifting

The JHHS Powerlifting team hosted the first ever Jaguar Invitational last night and came away with a 2nd place finish. Seniors Shina Adejuyigbe and Ohis Nevels each finished first in teir weight class to lead the team. The team next competes at Emory Rains on Februrary 13th.

UIL Current Events

UIL Current Events is meeting Thursday after school in room P3. If you like the news and to show off that newsy knowledge, drop by P3 Thursday after school.

Cheerleader Tryouts

It is that time of year again...Tryouts for the 2010-2011 JHHS Cheerleaders and Mascot. Applications are available in the front office and can be picked up before school or during lunches. Applications are to be turned into the front office by Thursday, February 11th at noon. Absolutely no late application will be accepted under ANY circumstance. Please be sure to include a copy of your last report card with citizenship grades and a small photo of yourself. There is also a new change to the guidelines which allows current Freshman, Sophomores, or Juniors to tryout for Jazzy.

Grease DVD

If you want to buy a DVD of Grease, please see Mrs. Malone by Friday.

KOEM Tryouts

This Friday, February 5th, is the last day to schedule a time to try out for a spot on KOEM, Mesquite Schools Radio. It is an elective course in "Advanced Brodcast Journalism." It is a full credit and does count toward your GPA. Even if you're not interested in brodcasting or journalism, it will help you build confidence and polish your speaking skills. You can set up a time before or after school, or this Saturday between 9 and noon. Call them at 972-882-7560.

Congratulations to the JHHS Aca Deca team!

The JHHS Academic Decathalon team scored an outstanding 38,241.2 points at regional competition this weekend, placing 4th in the region. We narrowly missed third place by a mere 76.3 points. No MISD team has scored that high since 2004! Our closest competitors amoung the 5A schools in Mesquite were nearly 10,000 points behind us.

Our indivisual winners were:
  • Caitlin Smith - 3rd in Economics, 1st in Speech, 2nd in Interview, 3rd in Art.
  • Jacob Kelley - 3rd in Language and Literature, 3rd in Interview, 3rd in Music
  • Brook Nega - 2nd in Economics, 3rd in Science, 2nd in Speech, 2nd in Interview, 1st in Art, 1st in Language and Literature, and 2nd Overall Indivisual Scorer - Varsity Division.

Our indivisual team high scorers were Robin Jospeh - Honors Division, Caitlins Smith - Scholastic Division, and Brook Nega - Varsity Division.

Each student on the team won a medal for our placement in the region. We are so proud of all their hard work and what they've accomplished this weekend.

Winner of Invisible Children Book Drive

Student Leadership is proud to announce the winners of this years Invisible Children book drive. The winer is Mrs. Hall and her students! We would like to thank all the students who donatd to the book drive. The children of Uganda will benefit gratefully from Jaguar generosity.

Sadie Hawkins Dance

Love is in the Air, so make sure you attend the JHHS Sadie Hawkins Dance on February 13th from 7:30-10:30pm. Pre-Sale tickets are $10 and will be sold in the ticket booth. Senior pre-sale tickets will be sold on February 1st, Junior Pre-Sale tickets will be on sale February 2nd, Sophomore tickets will be on sale on February 3rd, and Freshman can buy their presale tickets on February 4th.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $12. The dress for the Sadie Hawkins Dance is semi-formal. Remember, the dance is for JHHS students only. so find your Jaguar Sweetheart and get ready to dance!

Want to help the Victims of the earthquake in Haiti as well as the child soldiers in Uganda? Come to Mrs. Barnard's room(H105) directly after school for a quick meeting about how you can help donate one million dollars without losing a single penny!

Albertson's Community Partners Program

Horn is participating in the Albertson's Community Partners Program. There is no cost to get involved and we will benefit greatly with your help. Please scan the "key tag" every time you shop at Albertson's. We will earn 1% of your shopping each time you scan the card. If you need more "key tags" please contact Horn High School. Thank you in advance for your support in this campaign. We sincerely appreciate your help.

Attention Students and Teachers...

Please observe the Ticket Booth hours. The ticket booth is open before school 8-8:35 and after school 3:45-4. If there is a line after 4, the ticket booth will remain open.
Teachers, do NOT send students to the ticket booth during class time while it is closed. The door will NOT be opened to students during class time.
Teachers, if you need to drop off a deposit, please call Ms. Everson first.
Parents, during the day if you need something from the ticket booth please call ahead 1st

Students...

Please do not walk through yards or climb fences when walking to and from school. Property is being damaged. When you are caught walking between houses and climbing fences, a citation will be issued and you will be made responsible to pay the damages.

To Parents

You must call in before 3:00 in order let your kids have early release.

Regarding Grades...

Please direct all issues regarding grades on report cards and progress reports to the respective teacher first. Not the office.
