Thomas Kaplinski was one of three students who competed in the UIL
Theatrical Design Contest for UIL from Horn High School. Thomas was selected
over hundreds of participants and will be judged on his make-up designs in
May at the UIL State Meet. This is the first time that a Horn student has
qualified for this contest and the first year we entered participants. We
are very proud of his hard work and the quality of his designs. I have
attached pictures of his designs to this email so you can check out his
awesomeness!!!!

JHHS Speech/Debate Makes School History, Again
The John Horn High School speech and debate team became members of the U.I.L. National Forensic League District consisting of 26 other schools just this year. This has been the first time the school has been a member of the National Forensic League that seeks to involve students in Forensics competition all around the United States. In June of each year they host a National Championship Tournament that changes location each year, this year it will be in Indianapolis, Indiana. In order to qualify for this tournament you must place in the top 3 in an individual event (with approximately 60 students from around Texas competing in each event) to compete at the National Level. The JHHS team competed for the first time this past week and the results for this National Qualifying Tournament were as follows.
Top 10 in Dramatic Interpretation - Sarah Nosche
Top 10 in Duo Interpretation - Marc Webb and Shayleigh Ward
Top 10 in International Extemporaneous Speaking - Sabrina O. and Hudson Harris
Alternate to Nationals in Dramatic Interpretation - Eunice Akinola
Alternate to Nationals in Student Congressional Debate - Hudson Harris
Alternate to Nationals in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking - Riley Roberson
