Colonel William Lee

Colonel Lee was born in Camden, NC. He is a graduate of Camden High School, Camden, NC Class of 1969. He Enlisted in the U.S. Army Delay Entry Program 9 March 1970 and entered active duty 1 June 1970. He completed Basic Training at Fort Bragg, NC in August 1970 followed by Advance Individual Training (AIT) Clerk Typist School, Fort Jackson, SC.Colonel Lee's Army career consisted of 37 years of which he served 6 years as an Enlisted Soldier (4 years active duty and 2 years active reserve).

He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) and was Honor Graduate of his Drill Sergeant Class.He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve Officer Training Corps while attending Howard University, Washington, DC. He graduated in December 1978 and was Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Medical Department as a Medical Service Corps Officer. He served 31 years as a Commissioned Officer (15years active reserves and 16 years active duty) and retired from active duty 31 July 2007.

Sergeant Major Henry Cerda

 

Sergeant Major Cerda was born in Vidor, Texas. His military career began as a military brat to an Air Force Sergeant.

In March of 1969 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps attending boot camp at Marine Corps Recruiting Depot San Diego. Some of his duties and assignments included: Combined Action Team, Vietnam, 3rd Mar Div; G-1 Administration, San Diego; and Security Team Leader, Naval HQ's, London; Admiral's Orderly Commander CINCUS NAVER Europe. Sergeant Major Cerda received his discharge in 1974 after achieving the rank of sergeant.

Sergeant Major Cerda's Army career began in February of 1975, Once again in the infantry. Some of his many assignments and positions included:

*  Senior Army Advisor to the OKARNG, OK

*  Sr. ROTC Instructor and Ranger Team Leader, P.V A&M University, TX

*  Post Sergeant Major & Operations SGT Ft Hunter Liggett, Ca. 7th INF DIV Light

*  S-3 Operations SGT, 1Sgt & PSG C. Co 3-9 INF MANCHU 7th ID

*  Drill Sergeant B. Battery, 1st TNG Battalion

*  SGM Cerda held Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant Positions in other Light Infantry units as well.

His military education includes all required NCOES courses. He is a graduate of the Sergeants Major's Academy (class #39). Other schools include: Drill Sergeant School, Light Leaders Crs,
Jungle warfare School, First Sergeant Crs, Air Assault, MOUNT Crs, and others. Sergeant Major Cerda earned a Bachelor of Sciences in Liberal Arts from Regents University.

His awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd OLC), Army Achievement (2nd OLC), Marine Combat Action Ribbon, Naval Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct (8th award), Marine Good Conduct, National Defense Service Medal (with star), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (with palm), Vietnam Service Medal (with four stars), Humanitarian Service Medal (1st OLC), NCO Professional Ribbon (w/num #4), Army Overseas Ribbon (w/num#2), Multi National Force Observers Award and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Other awards include the Drill SGT Badge, Air Assault Wings, Expert Infantry Badge, and is a member of the 7th Infantry Division (Light Fighter) Order of the Professional Bayonets.

Sergeant Major Cerda is married to the former Ms. Haley Wise of Casa, Arkansas. He has two children, Sergeant Cerda JR. (Strider) who is serving with the 160th Special Operation (Night Stalker) out of Ft. Campbell, KY and is currently in Bagdad. His daughter Andrea lives in Oklahoma City and works for the Air Force. Sergeant Major Cerda enjoys riding his Harley, boating, hunting, and showing cattle with his daughter, Tosha.

Sergeant First Class Rogelio Bazan

 

Sergeant First Class Bazan was born in Sinton, Texas on August 10, 1955. He has three sisters and two brothers. He graduated from Mission High School on May 31, 1974. He entered active duty with the United States Marine Corps, a private on 11 September 1974. He completed Basic Training at San Diego, California on 11 December 1974. He graduated from Infantry Training. He graduated from Embassy Duty School on December 1976. He left the Marines, on September 1980.

He entered the U.S. Army on 24 September 1981. He graduated from Logistics School in November 1981. He was reclassified as Tank Vehicle Repairman graduating at top of his class, in May 1985. He completed the Army's Logistics Management College Course. He graduated from Instructor trainer, supervisor instructor, systems training and testing construction course in October 1992. He also attended Basic Non-commissioned Officer Course and Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course schools.

He participated in the evacuation of Vietnam as a rifleman, in May of 1975. Other military assignments have included Supply Sergeant, Shop Foreman, Platoon Sergeant and Operations Sergeant.

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, (second award), Army Commendation Medal with (Second award), Army Achievement Medal(second award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Ribbon and the Overseas Ribbon.

He retired from the Army on October1, 1996 with 21 years service. He was certified as a Junior ROTC Instructor and began teaching at Desoto High School in Desoto, Texas in December 1996. He was hired for the position of Army Instructor at Mesquite High School on August 1, 1997.

Sergeant First Class Bazan is married and has one child, Teresa Marie.
