Announcements and College Visits

  • Juniors: This is your semester to take the SAT and/or ACT for college admissions. If you would like to take the next SAT, on March 10th, the deadline to register is this Friday, February 10th! Come by B23 if you would like help registering, need a fee waiver, or to pick up a practice book.

  • If you have recently picked up a dual credit packet from the counseling center, remember to get these turned in ASAP. The absolute deadline is Monday, February 27th but there is no need to wait that long.

  • Attention all students taking an AP Exam: We are taking deposits beginning this Wednesday, February 1st through Thursday, March 1st. The deposit is $13 for each test taken. You will need to pre-register in the Counseling Center with Ms. VanMeter before paying your deposit to Ms. Hill. Deadline to pay is Friday, April 20th.

  • The North Mesquite PTSA Scholarship is also now available. See Ms. Brice for details.

  • If you are a Sophomore or Junior and would like to take a college class that you can also get high school credit for, come to the counseling center and see Mr. Manning for more information about Dual Credit classes. These are classes that are offered at Eastfield College which can also serve to meet high school graduation requirements. Some of the more popular classes are Government, Economics, Speech and Psychology. Again come see Mr. Manning in the Counseling Center if you are interested.

  • Seniors: If you have taken a dual credit class make sure to turn in your transcript immediately to Mrs. Fortenberry in the counseling center. Remember that you must make at least a “C” to receive high school credit!!!

  • Seniors: If you have a parent who is or was in the Military, there may be a way for you to attend college without paying tuition or fees. To find out more come see Mr. Manning in the Counseling Center.

  • Seniors: It is time to start filling out the local scholarship application. This one application can qualify you for multiple scholarships guaranteed to be awarded to students from Mesquite. See Ms. Brice in the counseling center for details.

  • Attention Seniors taking AP classes- see Ms. Brice in the counseling center for a $20,000 scholarship opportunity.

  • Attention Senior softball and baseball players, do you have a 3.0 GPA? If so stop by the scholarship wall for a scholarship opportunity sponsored by the Frisco Rough Riders.

  • Attention Seniors: If you are interested in participating in ROTC in college see the scholarship wall located outside Ms. Brice's office for some scholarship opportunities.

  • Interested in Dual Credit Classes? These are classes for juniors or seniors only where they can receive a high school credit and a college credit for the same class. These classes are free, but you need to get the process started soon! If you are interested in taking a Dual Credit class next semester, see Mr. Manning in the Counseling Center as soon as possible

  • Seniors: have questions about applying to college? Would you like help finishing your college applications? Come to the library after school Today or Tomorrow and work on your applications. Ms. Tinney will be there to answer any questions and provide you with helpful application tips. There will be free food and you will also have the chance to win college prizes! You must sign up in B23 to attend.

  • Seniors: Already received an acceptance letter from college? Come by let B23 and let Ms. Tinney know so she can add your name to our College Acceptance Wall.
