There are new scholarship applications  available in the counseling center.   
 
1.  The Josie Washington Memorial Scholarship (in the amount of $500.00)
will be awarded to a high school senior who has contributed outstanding service to the Dallas community.
 
2.  The Fairrilla E. White Scholarship (in the amount of $500.00) is an
academic-based scholarship for young ladies only.
 
3.  The Juanita Buchanan Scholarship (in the amount of $1000.00) is an
academic-based scholarship for high school students enrolled in dual credit college classes.
 
4.  The Technology Scholarship (in the amount of a technology bundle) will
be awarded to a high school senior in need of technology for college.

5. New engineering scholarship available! The Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the Texas Engineering Foundation are awarding scholarships to students interested in pursuing a career in engineering.  Come get an application in the counseling center or go www.tspe.org to download a copy!  Applications are due January 13, 2012.   
 
6.  The Texas Student Housing Scholarship  is now available in the counseling center.  Come check it out if you are planning on attending college in Austin, College Station, or Denton and are planning to live off-campus.  

7.  The AXA Community Scholarship is now available.  Check it out online at www.axa-achievement.com.  One requirement is that you are active in the community. 

8. Mensa Foundation North Texas Mensa Scholarship Program
Information available in the counseling center or download a copy at www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships. Applications are due January 15, 2012.  

9. Dell Scholars Program - Seniors!  The Dell Scholars Program Scholarship is now available.
 Complete an online application at www.dellscholars.org/apply/ .  Application deadline is January 15, 2012.

10. Vanguard Prim Time Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association is awarding scholarships to graduating seniors
in the Dallas area. Applications available in the Counseling Center Deadline  February 15, 2012

11. 2012 Vinson & Elkins L.L.P. Scholarship Available to African-American, Hispanic, Asian, or Native American students Must be interested in a career in law, Be in the top 20% in their class and have a Minimum combined SAT score of 1650 Deadline April 1, 2012

12. Southwest Crushing LLC is offering a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from Poteet High School.  The deadline to apply is April 1,2012.

13. FIELD & MARY SCOVELL SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2012 GRANTS
$3,000 Grants will be awarded to North Texas students students with leadership abilities, high moral character, demonstrated financial need, and a connection to sports. Applications available at www.scovellscholarships.com.

tips TIPS AP Exams:

Registration for AP Exams for those Poteet students who are currently enrolled in AP classes here at Poteet will be from Tuesday, February 2 until Thursday, February 25.  Please see your AP teacher or come by the counseling center to pick up a registration form.  Remember the deadline is February 25th.

Community Service


Students can earn P.A.T.H. community service hours for volunteering in the community. Please see Amber Morris in the counseling center for more information.

Credit Recovery


Any student can re-gain lost credit for a course(s). Either semester of a two semester course can be taken on-line, or both semesters can be re-taken when necessary.   Students in this online program may complete most assignments either at home (available 24/7 via a computer with internet access) with some additional time at school in the credit recovery lab.
