Welcome to the Mesquite Independent School District!

When you ask someone about the Mesquite schools he or she will immediately recall words like tradition and excellence. Now in its second century, the district is certainly no stranger to success, and Mesquite ISD students are reaching new heights every year. Test scores continue to exceed state and national averages, and members of the Class of 2004 earned more than $10 million in college scholarships. Mesquite ISD is also home to two nationally recognized Blue Ribbon Schools selected and honored by the U.S. Department of Education.

Mesquite ISD values all children, all employees and continuous improvement – three points outlined in the district’s core values. Each school day, more than 34,000 students on 44 quality campuses are exposed to caring and highly educated teachers and the latest technology innovations. More than 41 percent of the district’s teachers hold advanced degrees. The district’s innovative educational programs also include the Mesquite Academy, a school of choice offering accelerated instruction to nontraditional students; KEOM 88.5 FM, the district’s own 61,000-watt radio station that serves as a learning laboratory for students while providing music, news, sports and information to the community; and an award-winning Instructional Television department, which broadcasts 50,000 programs over 26 channels to the schools and community each year.

Mesquite ISD’s quest for excellence extends beyond the classroom and staff. For its sound fiscal management, the district received a “Superior” rating under the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, a financial accountability system for Texas school districts.
