Mesquite ISD Policies and Procedures

Revised: June 2008

MISD Employees and Patrons:

It is the responsibility of the Board of Education to establish written policies to govern the
operation of the school district. The Policies and Procedures Handbook contains the statement
of rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Education of the Mesquite Independent
School District. The policies contained in this manual are consistent with state and federal
legislation and with guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency. They are intended
to improve the educational process and to build productive relations among the board, staff,
students, and the public.

Policies are reviewed on an annual basis, as needed. The Policies and Procedures Handbook
is reviewed and revised every three (3) years; however, individual policies underwent a major
review process in 2005.

With the advance technology, this Policies and Procedures Handbook is available “on-line”
and is posted on the Mesquite Independent School District web site. Printed copies are
available at the central office, on each campus, and in the Mesquite Public Library.

The Policies and Procedures Handbook is organized in seven major sections to facilitate
reference to various topics. This publication, in conjunction with MISD Administrative
Guidelines, provides for the operation of the district and is intended to be a source of
information and a guide for all employees.
