Mechanical and Electromagnetic
2. Demonstrate proper use and care of scientific tools in the science laboratory

ENGLISH
My name is Tara Walker, and I am so excited to be your son or daughter’s 8th grade English teacher! I am a first-year teacher, so I look forward to learning alongside your student this year. We will cover many exciting topics over the next few months, including the novel The Giver, by Lois Lowry. Besides teaching English, I will also be an assistant coach in volleyball, cross-country, and track.
I hope that we will soon get to know each other over during this school year. I am married and I have two children—Tyler, age 5, and Cody, age 3. Tyler just started kindergarten this year, so this is going to be a busy year for my family. In my spare time (which is becoming very scarce!), I like to read, especially historical fiction.
Again, I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and helping to prepare your son or daughter for high school!

HISTORY
This six weeks are learning about exploration and colonization of the new world. Students have quizzes on a regular basis so students need to look over their history notes each night. Also, we will be working on a timeline project. Tutoring times are every morning before school except Fridays from 7:40-8:10.

MATH
We are working on the following concepts.
Integers, Ordering, Compareing, and using
Rational Numbers, Ordering, Comparing and using
Fractions
Order of Operations
Exponents
Scientific Notation
These are all very important concepts for our students to understand, therefore if a student is struggling or has question I encourage them to come to tutoring any afternoon starting at 3:30 untill 4pm Ther is also morning tutoring offered at 7:30 in the moring on the stage.
