Director Liz Castile

Liz Castile has been with the Mesquite Children's Chorus for the past 14 years. Before assuming the position as head director of the Bel Canto Girls Choir in the Fall of 1999, she served as an assistant director with the Mesquite Boys Choir.

She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree in December of 1990 and her Master of Elementary Education degree in August of 1996 both from East Texas State University. She has taught elementary music at Motley, Pirrung, Shands, and McWhorter Elementaries. She has been the director of the McDonald Middle School Choral Program since 1999.

In addition to her professional duties, Ms. Castile is very involved with the music ministry program at her church where she has served many times as interim music minister and also regularly sings on the church's Praise and Worship Team.

Asst. Director Kathy Reed

Kathy Reed has taught elementary music at Black Elementary for 10 years and has been the Bel Canto assistant director for 3 years.

She earned a Bachelo of Music from Texas Woman's University and a Master of Science in Educational Technology from the University of North Texas.

Mrs. Reed is a former student of Shaw Elementary, Agnew Middle School and Mesquite High.

Accompanist Karen Porter

Karen Porter is an elementary music teacher in Mesquited ISD where she currently teaches at B.J. Smith Elementary School. She has been teaching school for 11 years, and also teaches private piano and saxophone lessons.

Mrs. Porter has a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from Ouachita Baptist University, and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas.

She is currently the accompanist for the Bel Canto Choir.
