Position: Internal Auditor – Business Services

Description: Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Internal Auditor in the Business Services department. The appointee will report directly to the Audit Committee and will be responsible for performing financial and operational audits within the district. The person will work closely with personnel in the business office staff, central office personnel, campus administrators, and other support staff within the district.

Qualifications: The Internal Auditor will have at least a Bachelor's degree in Business/Accounting or a related field. CPA and/or auditing certification preferred.

Preference will be given to applicants who:

  • have demonstrated successful work experience in internal/external auditing or in a related field
  • have familiarity and experience with a variety of auditing concepts, practices, and procedures
  • are familiar with accounting codes as they pertain to Texas school districts
  • possess an understanding of computer functions including word processing, spreadsheet, and database
  • possess strong analytical and organizational skills
  • demonstrate effective communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary: Pay Range: Professional 3 - $55,487 - $92,272 depending on experience 226 day contract

Employment begins: March 19, 2012 or as soon as possible
