Position: Speech Pathologist

Description: Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Speech Pathologist. The appointee will report directly to the building principal and will be responsible for the assessment of students referred to Special Education for speech therapy evaluation, for re-evaluations and for the provision of speech therapy to eligible students. The appointee will also be a participant on the campus Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee for speech eligible students.

Qualifications: The Speech Pathologist will have at least a master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology and appropriate licensing by the state.

Preference will be given to applicants who:

  • knowledge of special education policies and procedures.

  • general understanding of effective instructional techniques and strategies as they relate to identified disabling conditions.

  • excellent communication (verbal and written), public relation and interpersonal skills.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Salary: Pay Range: Teacher salary commensurate with experience plus additional stipend for master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology (Counselor scale for those with Certificate of Clinical Competence). 187 day contract.
