Fingerprint Process
All substitutes are required to be fingerprinted by Texas state law to be allowed to work in a public school.  The cost for the fingerprinting is $52.20. The district will not reimburse for fingerprinting expenses. Previous fingerprinting that you have completed for a real estate license, nursing license or day care will not be accepted by the state.  If you are certified in the state of Texas and have been digitally fingerprinted for certification purposes we will be able to acquire the results quickly.

If you would like to become a substitute for Mesquite Independent School District please follow the steps listed below:

  1. Email smanager@mesquiteisd.org and indicate that you would like to be fingerprinted to complete the Mesquite ISD application process for substitution or that you have previously been digitally fingerprinted for certification purposes and would like your name to be added to an orientation list.
  2. Procedures for Certified and Non Certified Substitutes:
    1. Texas Certified Teacher or Paraprofessional. (See downloadable PDF for more detailed instructions)  If you are a Texas Certified Teacher and have not ever been digitally fingerprinted please follow these directions.
    2. Not a Certified Texas Teacher.  Email smanager@mesquiteisd.org  with the following information:
      • Give your name as it is on the application.
      • State that you are ready to be fingerprinted to complete your application process.
      • We will email your “FAST Pass”, which you will need to print out to take with you.
      • Non Certified Substitutes should make fingerprint appoints by calling 1-888-467-2080.  You will be required to pay using a credit card when appointment is made.
  3. Cost for Fingerprinting
    1. The cost for fingerprinting is $42.25 payable to SBEC and must be paid via credit card (included in this is a $2.00 fee assessed by Texas On-line as a result of the credit card transaction). If you do not have a credit card, it is the district’s understanding that you can purchase pre-paid Visa or MasterCard check cards at local retailers such as Wal-Mart and grocery stores.
    2. At the time of your appointment at an L-1 facility, you will be required to pay $9.95 via check or money order payable to L-1 Enrollment Services.
