Kindergarten Registration Information

Who:
All students of qualifying age living within the boundaries of Mesquite ISD are eligible for public education in this district.

Where:
Registration will take place on each individual campus. Parents are asked to contact their school office to make an appointment. Campus office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you are unsure about which school your child should attend, please call the Instruction Office at 972-288-6411.

When:
Registration generally begins the first week of August on each campus, unless otherwise indicated by the campus.

How:
Parents need to provide the following documents when registering their children for school:

1. Enrolling parent’s or guardian’s photo identification, such as a driver’s license.
2. Proof of residency within the school attendance zone. (Apartment renters must present a lease showing the parent’s/guardian’s name and the child’s name.)
3. Copy of the child’s birth certificate or other document suitable as proof of the child’s identity.
4. Child’s immunization record.
5. Copy of records from school most recently attended by your child. If you have the withdrawal form from your child’s previous school, please supply that for enrollment also.
6. Child’s Social Security card.

Changes of Address:
When you move within the district, the MISD requires that you re-submit proof of residency to the school office. Proof of address can be in the following forms:

1. Lease/rental agreement showing the parent's/guardian's name and the child's name
2. Housing contract
3. Mortgage payment coupon book
4. Utility bill
5. Current bill received in mail
6. Any other legal document agreed upon by building principal

Personal Checks:
Parents please note that when you are using a personal check to pay for your child's lunch, yearbooks, or anything else that may require payment, all checks are required to include the following information:

1. Name
2. Driver’s license number
3. Current address
4. Phone number
