The Dr. Ralph H. Poteet High School marching band captured the University Interscholastic League State AAAA Marching Band Championship, held November 8 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The PHS band outplayed and outmarched 20 other bands to earn the title, its second in school history. The Pirates won their first state championship November 3, 1997 in Waco.
The band is under the direction of Scott Coulson, Rick Davis, Jeff Jones and Steve Kath.
