I have been in the MISD district for 45 years. I started in January 1969 taking over classes at Vanston Middle School. I have taught at North Mesquite, Mesquite High, Poteet and am now at Horn High School. I got my BA from Texas A&M at Commerce in January of 1969 in English and History and completed my MED in counseling in 1970. I have taught all levels of English including Gifted and Talented, Pre AP, as well as CVAE and regular English. I taught Aviation Aerospace on the Mesquite High Campus, and I have been English Department Head at PHS for more years than I care to count. I am currently teaching the grade level and the subject that I love the most which is sophomore regular English. I have been a member of the Apple Corps since it’s beginning; I was one of the first two that were chosen. Now having said all of that, the most important thing about me is that I have a passion for teaching, I love young people, and I am inspired and motivated by each and every one of those who have crossed my path. I have put my heart and soul into being who I am, so therefore teaching has been an opportunity for me, and it has never felt like work.
