Russia Project Mrs. Brightwell Spring 2007

Select from one of the projects which will be presented in class:

•  Collage of Nicholas and Alexandra- copies of photos and letters of the family including one page about their life, times, and downfall.

•  Russia Icons- Draw one full page of an icon and explain their significance to the Russian Orthodox Church in a one page paper and how they are considered art.

•  Make a crown of the Russian Royal Family and include with the crown should be a one page report about the one of the czars of Russia .

•  Make a 3 dimensional Faberge egg using foam or other materials- should be made in the style of Peter Carl Faberge- write a one page report describing the Faberge eggs and your design.

•  Make a miniature of one of the Russian Royal palaces such as the Winter Palace or the Alexander Palace . A one page paper should accompany the palace and should give detailed information about the palace, its use, what happened to it after the Russian Revolution etc.

•  Write a one page report on one of the following complete with visual :

•  St. Basil's Cathedral

•  Russian Revolution of 1917

•  Vladimir Lenin

•  Joseph Stalin

•  The Cold War

•  Nikita Khrushchev

•  Alexander III

•  Bolsheviks

•  The Cuban Missile Crisis

•  Other topic approved by Mrs. Brightwell

7. Make a 3 dimensional topographical map showing mountains, rivers, plains and a one page report on the geography of the country.

Projects will be graded by the following Rubric:

•  Completeness   20%

•  Following Directions 20%

•  Turned in on Time 10%

•  Creativity 20%

•  Historical Accurateness 20%

•  Presentation 10 %

Total Points: 100
