Mesquite High National Honor Society – Information Packet FYI
All the information you need about being a member (the by-laws), volunteer hour requirements, and volunteer opportunities are attached to this packet. Please look at these carefully. What you don’t know could be to your disadvantage. Only completed information packets will be looked at by the faculty council. If you fail to fill in all blanks, including the information sheet, both FRONT AND BACK, as well as all the other parts of this packet, you are taking a chance of NOT being chosen as a NHS member for the 2013 induction. Complete packets and service hours are due no later than September 20st, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. Induction will tentatively be October 24, 2013.
These are examples of what students SHOULD do to ensure their acceptance into NHS for leadership purposes. Here are the "Good Examples": Sample Information Sheet and Sample Letter (.docx)

Congratulations to the MHS BPA Students! Mesquite High School Students "Uncovered Their Magic" at the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference.
The Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2013 National Leadership Conference, “Uncover Your Magic,” was last week from May 6-12, 2013 in Orlando, FL. Mesquite High School had 29 students who joined over 5,000 other conference delegates from across the nation to participate in national level business skills competitions, workshops, general sessions, and the national officer candidate campaigns and elections.
After the competitions were complete, Mesquite High School had one group named 1st Place National Champions in the event of Small Business Management. This group consisted of Benny Thomas, Rudy Abrams, Tammy Thai and Ruby Moreno.
In addition, Mesquite High School placed Top Ten in the Nation in the events of Presentation Management (5th Place). This group consisted of Caleb Young, Gabriel Green, Alexus Page, and Melanie Cephas. Alexus Page excelled as well in Digital Media Production and was named 4th Place in the nation in that event as well.
Please congratulate these students on their outstanding achievements. They are a perfect example that hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.
Thanks!
Mrs. Jensen, Ms. Ritter, and Coach Graham
Congratulations to Ms. Marlene Martinez
Ms. Marlene Martinez (11th grader), who will be participating in the interview process for the AATSP Trip to Spain for the summer 2013 session.
Marlene, as a 10th graders took the National Spanish Exam and scored a 100% on the Level 3 Native Speaker test.
She is the third student from the district to be invited the the interview portion of this contest.
In 2010, Damien Hernandez (MHS graduate of 2012) participated and won the trip to Spain for the summer of 2011.
Only at MHS are students able to participate in the prestigious exams, since their teacher, Mrs. Escobar is a member of AATPS - the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
