The ASLHS inspires academic achievement in ASL studies, use of ALS in local community events, and fosters life-long enjoyment of visual language and culture by providing for opportunities to engage ASL students with the Deaf World and recognizing academic excellence. |

| Students can become a member of the organization through invitation only, since there are certain requirements such as: grades, experience, and involvement in community service. Invitations are sent out in the Spring. Acedemic recognition takes the form of official honor cords that may be worn during graduation ceremony. |
