| Announcing: Mesquite High School's Third Annual Lighthouse Celebration Wednesday, May 2, 2007 4:00-5:00 p.m. Auditorium To All Faculty & Staff Members: For the third year, Mesquite High School will be honoring students who have inspired teachers and staff in some way. Each faculty member will choose a student who has affected him or her in a positive way throughout the school year. Who Nominates? Each staff member at MHS (this includes administration, counselors, teachers, and paraprofessionals) will choose, invite and escort one student to the Lighthouse Celebration. Selection of Students: Many Mesquite High students will never receive an award or have their name in the newspaper. They are rarely absent or tardy, observe the school dress code and are not discipline problems. They are the middle-of-the-road students, who model respect, honor learning, and share responsibility at MHS. You may be aware of a student who has overcome overwhelming circumstances or obstacle or has persevered and is determined to "make it". You may wish to honor that "impossible" student from the beginning of the year who has made a complete turnaround. A student may be chosen because he or she has been observed as someone who shows leadership, compassion or friendship. Finally, your choice may be a student who is an inspiration to you "just because". The celebration will be held in the Auditorium so that family members of the students may attend. Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria. -- Those in attendance will be captivated by guest speakers, inspired by fellow students, and entertained by a faculty choir. There, recipients will be presented with a certificate and/or plaque and pin to commemorate the occasion. For many teachers and students, this will be the "highlight" of their school year! |
