Purpose: The MHS Booster club expends a hearty welcome to all Skeeter fans in the community!
So just what is a booster club? I once told someone I was going to a "Booster club" meeting and they looked at me like I was going to some underworld meeting of Mafia gangsters, or some meeting of fanatical protesters!
We are simply a group of people who want to see Mesquite High School student-athletes reach their full potential. This is an informal get-together of MHS supporters to discuss ways to improve the opportunity of MHS students to succeed We support not just the football teams, but all the other sports, including: volley-ball, Cross-country, basketball, soccer, baseball, tennis, golf, and swimming. (This is not meant to detract from the accomplishments of the Mighty Maroon and---they deserve accolades as well.

You don't have to have a son or daughter in high school to get involved. Many of us simply love the Skeeters and want to see them be the best they can be! Most impressively, the Booster club has for many years raised thousands of dollars for college scholarships for deserving MHS students.

We meet about once a month in the MHS cafeteria on Monday nights. We have treasurer, who keeps track of the funds raised. We have a person in charge of selling wares---such as T-shirts and concessions; which is the principle way we raise money. We have a person in charge of recruiting new members, a secretary, and of course, a president (Lisa Brimer), and vice-president. We also have as faculty liaison in the person of Bucky Taylor, head athletic trainer.

Perhaps one of he most unusual ways we have reached out for community support is through the "Junior Skeeters"! This is a group of kids aged about 5-9 years, who meet on the field before football games and then run through the tunnel with the players.

The Booster club is also responsible for sponsoring the Fall, Winter, and Spring sports banquets at which we recognize excellent student-athletes. We also decorate the football stadiums on game nights (such as flags , stares, ribbons, etc). We set up the tunnel and inflatable Stormy before each game. We help purchase needed equipment forth the teams ( We recently helped purchase new tennis uniforms for the tennis teams)

We have "send-offs" to away football games. We cheer the players and show them our support as they board the bus prior to the game.

So put yourself in their place---if you were a high school student-athlete, wouldn't you appreciate knowing you had the support, not just of the parents, but of fans in general?

In short, the purpose of the Booster club is to provide parental and community support for our student-athletes. These kids work hard all year to be the best they can be. They really appreciate the support, not only their parents, but of the fans. Community support is very helpful and important to them. Here is your chance to make a difference! So come join us in our dedication to the student-athletes of Mesquite High.

We bleed Maroon!!!
