Champ Visits Moss

3rd-6th grade students were treated with a visit from Champ on April 13th.
Books for Our Troops and Their Children
Mrs. Vaughn's 1st grade class learned about a project Mr. Horn, MISD Transportation Department, was doing.
He was collecting books for soldiers who are going to war through the DFW airport.
Soldiers are videotaped reading the age appropriate books aloud and
then the tapes are sent home to his/her child to watch while the parent is away on active duty.

Mrs. Vaughn's class collected 60 books over several weeks. Way to go, Mrs. Vaughn's class! Ms. Kessner and two of her students, Casey Fowler and Bryan MacWithey, also donated money and books for the cause. The Transportation Department sent a bus on April 13th to collect the books to deliver to DFW airport. |

The BFG
Ms. Hudlow's 3rd grade class read Roald Dahl's The BFG.
When the book was completed, they dressed like the characters.

Gang Unit Visits Moss
The Mesquite Police Department Gang Unit spoke to 6th grade students to
discuss why people join gangs as well as the consequences of joining gangs.

Spray a Teacher
3rd grade teachers and students made a bet:
Pass the Reading TAKS on February 20th and earn the opportunity to spray silly string at your teacher.
