Hello, my name is Rachel Ruiz and I'm the school counselor at Motley Elementary.  This is my fifth year in education and my second year as a counselor.  I LOVE being the counselor at the GREATEST school on the planet!  I feel very fortunate to be able to do something that I truly enjoy each and every day.  

When I'm not working, I love being with my family and friends.  My husband Carlos and I have been married almost three years.  We are die hard Cowboy fans...seriously, we have a Cowboy "room" in our house!   

After receiving my Bachelors degree from Southern Methodist University I decided to join the Peace Corps in South America.  While there, I worked along side women selling their produce to help them pay for their family's educational needs.  I also worked with the children in my village planting trees, teaching computer courses, and building self esteem.  That's when I first realized my love of counseling.    

I'm looking forward to beginning another great year at Motley!
