Rugel Elementary Selected to Perform At State Conference

Rugel Elementary School’s Fifth Grade Class has been selected by the North Texas Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association to be the featured performing group for their annual reception, held in conjunction with the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio, Texas.

This is a prestigious honor awarded to only one performing group in Texas each year. The Rugel Fifth Graders were selected from audition recordings of similar ensembles from across the state.

Their performance will be attended by a large number of elementary music educators participating in the convention as well as music education industry representatives.

The performance will take place on Thursday afternoon, February 15 at 3:30 p.m. in room CC103 of the Harry Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio, TX.

The group will be performing their own rendition of the bittersweet love story, “The Steadfast Tin Soldier.” The story will be narrated with singing, body percussion, percussion, recorder, and dance. This performance opportunity will be the students’ first performance outside of their own school walls.
