The following attendance zone changes were approved at the March 20, 2006 Board of Trustees meeting.

Terry Middle School, located at 2351 Edwards Church Road, is under construction and will be open in August 2006. A new attendance zone will be created for Terry that will change the Berry attendance zone. Mesquite ISD is also making a minor change in the Pirrung and Thompson zones. Please see the map for details of these changes.

The following information explains the changes that will begin with the 2006-2007 school year.

Terry Middle School Attendance Zone and Enrollment

• Eighth Grade: There will be no eighth grade at Terry Middle School in 2006-2007. Eighth grade will begin at Terry in 2007-2008.
• Seventh Grade: Current sixth graders at Pirrung Elementary and Thompson Elementary will attend seventh grade at Terry Middle School. Current Smith Elementary sixth graders who reside in the Park Chase subdivision area will attend Terry Middle School as seventh graders in 2006-2007 and eighth graders in 2007-2008.
• Sixth Grade: Current fifth graders at Pirrung Elementary and Thompson Elementary will attend sixth grade at Terry Middle School. Current Smith Elementary fifth graders living in the Park Chase area will also be at Terry Middle School as sixth graders. However, for the 2006-2007 school year, these students may request a transfer back to Smith Elementary for sixth grade. All of these Smith students will be required to attend Terry Middle School as seventh graders.

Berry Middle School Attendance Zone and Enrollment

• Eighth Grade: All current Berry Middle School seventh graders will continue as eighth graders at Berry Middle School. This will keep those students together allowing their special programs and athletic teams to compete in middle school together.
• Seventh Grade: Current sixth graders from Rutherford Elementary, Gentry Elementary and Smith Elementary (excluding the Park Chase and Edwards Church area) in the Berry Middle School attendance zone will attend Berry as seventh graders.
• Sixth Grade: There will be no sixth graders at Berry in 2006-2007. Sixth grade will begin at Berry in 2007-2008.
