The scholarships listed below have been offered to Mesquite ISD and/or Dallas area students in the past. As soon as current information is received, the date and information will be updated and moved to the top portion of this page. Pending indicates that current information on this opportunity has not been received for the current year.

AMBUCS Mesquite (American Business Clubs Scholarship)

This scholarship is offered to Mesquite ISD seniors who are planning on pursuing an undergraduate degree in a medical-health related field.  The degrees cannot be on the administrative side of healthcare, but on the side of direct patient care. (Pre-med, Pre- dentistry, physical therapy and speech therapy/pathology, audiology, optometry, podiatry, chiropractic, and nursing, to name most of them) This scholarship will be granted annually to three graduating seniors.

Interested seniors should complete a local scholarship application and return it to their guidance counselors.

Joe Hornsby Scholarship 

To be eligible for a Joe Hornsby III Scholarship, applicants must satisfy the following criteria.

  1. Applicants must be planning to attend or be enrolled in an undergraduate
    program in an accredited college or university or a technical training program.
  2. Applicants must be a graduating senior of a high school from within Mesquite Independent School District.
  3. Priority will be given to students with special needs, visually impaired, physical disabilities, autism and/or Asperger syndrome.

This scholarship is for students that are currently enrolled in colleges, universities or high schools in the United States. I am looking for entrepreneurial creativity, which can come from all walks of life. For me gender, age, race is not a barrier to succeed in business, but desire and aptitude is.

The essay you are going to create must be unique and creative. The words of your content must deliver your vision for entrepreneurship and explain what is and what is not required to be successful in business from concept to market.

While reading the essays, I will take note of factors including creativity, vision, practicality and foresight.

Get Games Go Scholarhsip

The Get Games Go Young Marketer’s Scholarship is open to any high school, vocational school, college or university student anywhere in the world who is or will be at least 18 years of age by the scholarship deadline.

Our scholarship is open to all young marketers who meet our criteria, regardless of their area of study or branch of expertise. Because our scholarship aims to help out with education costs, we do require that applicants have a current GPA of at least 2.5 at the date of their entry.

The Mortgage Reports Scholarship

The Business Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship is offered to students entering or currently pursuing an educational program related to business or finance. Students must be at least 17 years of age and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

All applicants must submit a 600 to 1,000-word essay explaining what they hope to accomplish during their career in a business or finance field and how the scholarship would fulfill those goals. Recommended topics are included in the Personal Essay section.

Elks National Foundation Lagacy Awards Scholarship For the 2017 contest, any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2014, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2014, is eligible to apply. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2017. Great-grandchildren are not eligible.

2) The applicant must be a high school senior.

3) The applicant must apply online only. The 2017 Legacy Awards application deadline is 11:59 a.m. Central Time on Friday, February 3, 2017.

4) If the applicant's parent and grandparent are both Elk members, the applicant must apply through the parent's Elks Lodge.

5) Applicants must take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT) by December 31, 2016.

6) Students may apply for more than one ENF scholarship; however, they may win only one. In cases where the student qualifies for more than one, we will award the scholarship with the greater value. Students can accept local and state scholarships, which are separate from the awards at the national level.

7) Legacy Awards may only be applied to accredited US American schools, colleges or universities. (Note: Applicants from Guam, Panama, Puerto Rico and the Philippines may apply Legacy Awards toward schools, colleges or universities in their respective homes.)

James and Patricia Sood Scholarship

The James and Patricia Sood Scholarship was founded in honor of a special couple, both teachers. It is awarded to a young adult student who is pursuing a degree and career in education. After serving as an engineer in the US Navy and then having a successful career in business, James went back to school to follow his passion–teaching. He spent many happy years as a Professor of International Business at American University, where he retired as Professor Emeritus in the 1990s.

St. Ann's Alumni and Friends of Little Mesico Scholarship To be eligible for a scholarship from St. Ann’s Alumni & Friends of Little Mexico, Inc. applicants must meet the

1. Be a descendant of alumni who attended St. Ann’s School or a descendant of past 
resident(s) of “Little Mexico”; 
2. Be a 2017 graduating high school student with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or 
its equivalent; 
3. Compose an essay of a minimum of 200 words on:  “Where do you see yourself ten years 
from now considering your field of study or career choice?”  Your essay will be a deciding 
factor in the awarding of this scholarship.  Have a teacher, counselor or academic advisor

Mesquite Rotary Club Scholarship
