national signing day

Five Poteet athletes signed today on National Signing Day. For the first time in Poteet history, we had four football athletes sign with Division 1 schools.

- Silas Firstly signed with the University of Texas at El Paso.
- Chase Graham signed with Arizona State.
- Craig Suits signed with the University of Tulsa.
- Steven Hicks signed with Sam Houston State.
- Preston Bass signed with USAF.

We are so very proud of these athletes.

Senior Jordan L. Wright signed last week to play collegiate softball with Northwood University.  Jordan is a 4-year starter in the outfield for Poteet Softball.  She was a member of the 2009 State Semifinalist team.  During her career at Poteet she has received 2nd-Team and Honorable-Mention All-District Honors.

Coach gee's Christmas providers

Each December, Coach Pete Gee's (Defensive Coordinator for our football team) classes collect gifts and a group of students volunteer to deliver those gifts to deserving children and families. This year they collected over 100 gifts.

Poteet named an NCEA high performing school

Poteet is one of four schools from MISD selected as an NCEA (National Center for Education Achievement) High Performing School. Congratulations Poteet! The other three schools were Kimbrough Middle Schoool, Mackey Elementary, and Hanby Elementary.
