Dr. John Howe, Recipient of MIT Award
Poteet teacher, Dr. John Howe, received the 2012 Massachusetts Institute of Technology Inspirational Teacher Award in Thursday night's program. This year, the MIT Inspirational Teacher award was given to only 33 teachers world-wide out of thousands of nominees. Dr. Howe was nominated by a former PHS student, Willy Vasquez.
Here is the letter Willy Vasquez wrote to nominate Dr. Howe:
"As I've said time and time again, to my parents, friends, and all who ask, if it were not for Dr. Howe, I would not be here at MIT right now. Thank you Dr. Howe, for all the advice you have given me, all the times you stayed after school to tutor me, and all the passion you put into the topics you taught. I hope one day, after I do all my awesome stuff just as you did, to be an educator as great as you are. If I can inspire as many people as you have, my life would be more than successful. With all you have given me, I hope this award will cover a fraction as repayment. Never lose the care and always remember, that we are more than thankful for everything you do for us. Thank you Dr. Howe."
