Captain's Log

PHS School Newspaper

If you attend PHS, you most likely have seen the people sitting at the table when you walk in the cafeteria once every six weeks. They are selling the school newspaper, The Captain's Log. The captain's log is compiled with stories of interest that high school students want to read and is not based with world issues. The staff generates all stories and photos for The Captain's Log, which is produced every six weeks. The staff is responsible for writing, editing, and laying out their stories as well as the taking, developing, and printing out all photos.

The Captain's Log must generate funding from business ads, which the Ad Editor is responsible for laying out and selling for each issue.
Generally, the staff is open to sophomore, Junior, and senior students, exceptions are made for freshmen that have an outstanding recommendation and high English grades.
Becoming a member of the staff is based on attendance, discipline record, interview process, and teacher recommendations. Applications for membership can be found in room 228. The Poteet Newspaper is a charter member of Quill, Scroll, and ILPC.
