Career Prep
Junior and Senior students who are 16 years of age or older may register for career preparation classes. These courses are a cooperative effort between the business and education communities. MISD is very appreciative of the support of approximately 300 area businesses and industries who emply our students annually.
In each career preparation class, students learn job specific skills related to their employment in a one-hour class during the school day. The student also takes the required academic classes for the grade level. He/she will receive an early release in order to leave school and go to his/her place of employment. In order to receive credit for the work experience, a student must work at the business training site at least 15 hours per week. The MISD High School Course Description Guide contains a complete description of each career preparation class.
*Students in 2 or 3 credit pre-labs and career preparation classes may substitute these classes for the physical eduation required credits. Students in Health Science Technology 1 or Health Science Technology Clinical Rotation classes may substitute these classes for the require health credit.
