Pirate Band Wins Grand Champion!

The Pirate Band traveled to Plano to compete in the Plano East Marching Invitational. In the preliminary competition, the band received awards for Outstanding Marching, Outstanding General Effect, Outstanding Drum Majors and Best Band in Class 4A for the 20th consecutive year! In addition, the band placed 1st overall in the preliminary competition. In the finals competition, competing against some of the top 3A, 4A, and 5A schools in the Dallas area, the band won the award for Outstanding Visual Performance, placed 1st overall, and was named Grand Champion! This the sixth time that the Pirate Band has won the Grand Championship at the Plano East Marching Invitational!
Congrats to these students for their outstanding accomplishment!

Haunted House and Halloween Carnival will be open before each show beginning at 6:00 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday. Tickets for the Hanted House and Carnival are $2.00 or FREE with the purchase of a play ticket.
Auditions were held this past weekend for the Region 3 All Region Orchestra at North Mesquite HS. Poteet did very well. Steven Lee - Violen - make the Region III Orchestra and qualified to audition for the Texas All State Orchestra. Ian Herrera, Cindy Mendoza, Steven Lee and Skye Wardell all made the Region III Orchestra. Congratulations to our amazing Poteet Orchestra!

The art students are currently working on some exciting pieces, look for the commended artwork on display around the school.

In Photojournalism, the class learns the technique, history, and excitement that is photography. The students must come supplied
with his or her own film camera, photo paper, and film rolls. Assignments focus on topics ranging from "Angles" to "Portraits", and are graded by composition, effort, and final output.
Each year, the class takes a field trip in the first semester to one of these locations:
- The Fort Worth Zoo
- Downtown Dallas
- The Dallas Arboretum
This year's field trip is to the Dallas Arboretum!
