NEW Poteet TAKS Exemption Policy

Poteet High School will be participating in the district TAKS exemption pilot program. For the spring semester of 2007, the following guidelines will be used to determine exemptions for certain final exams. The Pilot program will only affect students in their core classes that are tied to a TAKS exam. The exemption policy will only apply to 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. The district's original exemption policy is still in effect, but the TAKS exemption policy will take precedence. The TAKS exemption policy states that a student who passes a TAKS exam will be exempt from the semester final exam for that core class.

9th grade students will be eligible to gain an exemption in their math class by passing their math TAKS test and an exemption in their English class for passing the 9th grade Reading TAKS test.

10th and 11th grade students will be eligible to gain exemption in Math, Science, Social Studies, and English classes by passing the TAKS test related to that class. For those students who do not pass the TAKS test, the original exemption policy will be in effect.
