R-Time
Character Education
Range is continuing to utilize R-Time as our character education program this year. R-Time stands for Relationships to Improve Education and is taught in each classroom between 8:00-8:30 every Tuesday. Please make every effort to ask your child about their R-Time lesson on Tuesdays.
Range has implemented the three R-Time rules campus wide.
R-Time rules:
- Show good manners at all times
- Follow instructions with thought and care
- Be kind to everyone and everything
R-Time was developed to:
- enable children to create and develop positive, respectful relationships with their peers
- learn the skills of sharing, taking turns and fairness
- work cooperatively together using and exploring dialogue that needs to be taught and valued
- content is non-threatening and non-academic
- focus on social, emotional and behavioral skills which influence every aspect of personal, social, home and community life.
- make and maintain friendships
- resolve conflict effectively as well as fairly
- solve problems with others or by themselves
- to come to terms with strong feelings such as anger, anxiety or frustration
- to adopt calm and optimistic states that promote achievement and goals
- to be resilient, able to recover from setbacks and persist in the face of difficulties
- to work and play cooperatively
- to compete fairly and win or lose with dignity and respect for others
- to recognize and stand up for the rights of others
- to understand and value differences and things in common between people, respecting the rights of others to have beliefs and values different from their own.
R-Time contributes to the students’ well being and reduces bullying by developing mutual respect and building positive relationships between children.
