No School Friday, February 3. This is a staff development day for teachers.

Shands Spirit Days

This year we would like to officially celebrate our Shands School Spirit.

Every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month, we want EVERYONE to wear a Shands t-shirt. It could be a PE shirt or one that you have received from the PTA. If you don't have a Shands shirt yet, then wear a shirt that is blue or yellow, our school colors.

This will also be the day that Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders will get to wear their dog tags.

Our first SHANDS SCHOOL SPIRIT DAY is this Friday, Sept. 16th.

We look forward to celebrating together the AMAZING school that we have.

¡Días de Espíritu en Shands!

Este año queremos celebrar oficialmente nuestro espíritu de escuela.

El 1 y 3 viernes de cada mes, queremos que todos usen una camiseta de Shands. Podría ser una camisa de educación física o una que usted ha recibido de PTA. Si usted no tiene una camisa de Shands su hijo(a) puede usar una camiseta que es azul o amarilla, los colores de la escuela.

Este también será el día en que kindergarten, primero y segundo grado van usar sus collares de escuela.

Nuestro primer día de ESPÍRITU DE ESCUELA en Shands sera este viernes, 16 de septiembre.

Esperamos poder celebrar juntos la escuela MARAVILLOSA que tenemos.

MISD/Shads Awards

Hi, everyone.

Wanted to let you know about an award that Shands received just yesterday.The State Comptroller came to the district yesterday to present an award to our super Superintendent, Dr. Henrie.

Additionally, Shands Elementary was one of only four MISD campuses and about 300 campuses around the state to win her Texas Honor Circle Recognition.

Basically, the Texas Honors Circle recognizes campuses that have achieved superior student academic growth while keeping spending low.

Parent Lunch Days!! 

If you choose to have lunch with your child(ren), please plan to pick one day a week to do so. We are doing this in an effort to focus our energy on instruction, ensure effective monitoring and use of space in our cafeteria, and make the best use of office personnel. Each parent will be able to visit school for lunch one day per week. We look forward to seeing you.
