Grade & ART I
The
program consists of a general introduction to design, drawing, sculpture,
painting, art history, printing and a variety of art forms. The
course includes an orientation in the use of a variety media and
the basic skills essential in use of each. The first semester begins
with a focus on the Elements of Art while the second semester focuses
on the Principles of Design. Students will begin each class with
a drawing warm-up, reflection, vocabulary, or creativity exercise.
A test will be given at the end of each six weeks period. A field
trip to the Dallas Museum of Art in the fall will allow students
to apply aesthetic concepts they have learned in the classroom in
a real-world environment.
ART
II
The
intent of this program is to refine art skills developed in Art
I. The class is composed of a selected group of students exhibiting
exceptional talents in the field of art. Emphasis will be placed
on developing drawing, painting and sculpting skills, creativity
and individual style. At this level, the projects and historical
studies are designed to build self-awareness and confidence through
analysis, individual expression, symbolism and production. Students
will begin each class with a drawing warm-up, reflection, vocabulary,
or creativity exercise. A test will be given at the end of each
six weeks period. A field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art in the
fall will allow students to apply aesthetic concepts they have learned
in the classroom in a real-world environment.
