  • Tardy Bell; 7:55 am.
  • Students will be allowed to come inside the building at 7:15am.

Dismissal Times
2:55 pm; for all grades
Please discuss dismissal with your child and decide on a place of pick-up in the afternoon.  It is very important that children be picked up promptly after school.  There is not outside adult supervision after 3:15 pm.   Students are not allowed to go to the playground after school to wait on a ride.

Early Dismissals
All students must leave through the office.  The parent or guardian must come into the front office to sign out the student.  Teachers cannot release children from their rooms.  Arrangements must be made in advance through the office if the parent/guardian has requested that someone else is picking up the student who is not on the emergency card.  Identification will be asked for in the office.  This procedure is for the protection of our students.

Tardies ** IMPORTANT**
The tardy bell rings at 7:55 am each morning.  All students should be in the classroom by this time.  If a student arrives after 7:55, then he/she will be marked tardy.  After 3 tardies a note will be sent home and after the 4th tardy an after school detention will be served. (each 6 weeks)

Electronic Equipment
Students are prohibited from using paging devices, cellular telephones, etc., within a school building before or during school hours or on a school campus during school hours, and devices are to remain off during the school day.  Devices that are on and/or cause a disruption during the school day will be confiscated and may be kept until the end of the year.  The school will not be responsible for damage, loss or theft of these items.

Clinic / Medicine
Our school nurse, Ms. Cruise, is on duty in the clinic everyday again this year. If you have any questions for her, you may contact the clinic @ 972-882-5003.  Any medicine that your child needs through the school day must be dispensed through the clinic.  Medicine to be dispensed to a student must be in the original PRESCRIPTION bottle with the child's name on it.  We cannot give over the counter medication without a doctor's note.  This includes medicines like Tylenol, aspirin, cough syrup, etc.

Absences
If your child misses school due to illness, death in the family, or other circumstances, please call the school office to report the absence.  The secretaries will then place a note in the teacher's box.  When your child returns to school, please send a written note with your child.  A doctor's statement may be needed if your child is out for an extended amount of time.  Texas Law states that more than 18 absences in a school year may result in automatic retention of a student.  Your child must be in attendance for 90% of the year.

PTA & Volunteer Program
We encourage all of our parents to join PTA.  The PTA is comprised of parents and school personnel.  This wonderful organization spends numerous hours working for the benefit of all our students.  The parent volunteer program has limitless opportunities for service.  These range from helping in an individual classroom ( running off papers, working with small groups, etc.) to working in the teachers' workroom copying paper, cutting, sorting, etc.  Mesquite ISD requires any volunteer working in direct contact with children (at school or on a field trip) to have a criminal history check conducted.  This form can be picked up in the office.  A new one needs to be filled out each school year.

Visitors
You are welcome to our school; however, we ask that you first register in the school office and pick up a sticker to be worn while in the building.

Emergency Contact Information
Please keep us informed of any changes that should be made on your child's enrollment card such as address, work numbers, and home numbers.  It is imperative that you can be reached if your child is ill.  If at some point your phone is not working, then please advise the school office or your child's teacher with an alternate way of staying in contact with the school.

Teamwork
We are excited about your child's enrollment and wish to help you in any way that we can!  We hope you and your child have a great school year.  Tosch Elementary is a special place with many warm, caring people.  It is our goal for you to love Tosch as much as we do!  We are counting on your support and help to ensure your child's success in school.
