Art 1: Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos, was on November 2nd and we had an
amazing turnout. There was a lot of delicious food brought by families and
staff members. I made the King Ranch Casserole and it disappeared in an
instant. There were desserts and we all had a great time discussing art together.
Arturo Hernandez sang for us and after dinner the families voted for their
favorite offrendas (a table set up in remembrance of a person who has passed).
The offrenda created for Frida Kahlo was the winner. All of the art work was
amazing and made us so proud.
Art 1: Completed their awesome self portraits and they are on display right now
outside of the art room. The students are beginning their watercolor paintings
right now and begin painting tomorrow.
Art 2: We were approved for the Target Field Trip Grant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was our first attempt and I am so very happy that Art 2 will be able to spend
a day at the Nasher Sculpture Center sometime in April. Way to go Wildcats!
Art 2: Finished up a vessel project and is now beginning on their landscape paintings.
Two groups will be making a painting that will be on permanent display while
the remainder of the students are making awesome multi paneled landscape
paintings on canvas. Art 2 has also been making artist trading cards and they
are turning out to be just amazing.
Ask your children to talk to you about art! They are amazing at it!
