  • English Students Wear Their Letter

  • Nathaniel Hawthorne’s"The Scarlet Letter" takes the reader through the nature of sin. Hester Prynne is publicly shamed and must wear the letter “A” as punishment for her sin of adultery. Her letter then changes to a positive meaning. According to Hawthorne, we should all wear our own letter. The Juniors in Mrs. McClelland's English classes were asked to think of a POSITIVE attribute that described them and create their own letter and make sure it is original, creative and somehow wearable.

“No man, for any considerable period, can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be the true.” ― Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter
