  • Congratulations to Our November-December Character Recipients!

Don't Let Your Character Change Color With Your Environment. At West Mesquite, we believe it is important to develop good character! In fact, teachers are looking for students to recognize for showing great character.

Each month this school year, West will have a character trait that each teacher will emphasize in class-- as shown listed below. If students are exhibiting this trait, they can be nominated by a teacher for the Character Wall located in the hallway outside the Auditorium. Pictures of the awarded students will be posted on this wall. Everyone will be able to recognize those in our school who are pursuing a life of remarkable Character!

    1. September: Responsibility - Complete List of Students Awarded and Recognized
    2. October: Respect - Complete List of Students Awarded and Recognized
    3. November-December: Kindness - Complete List of Students Awarded and Recognized
    4. January: Leadership

  • Congratulations to Mrs. Gipson, WM's MISD Apple Corps Award Recipient

Thank you so very much for this prestigious honor. I am humbled and grateful and a bit overwhelmed by this recognition. I’d like to recognize my fellow Wranglers. My colleagues at West are an amazing bunch of folks. I am often moved by their unceasing commitment to our students. Our faculty is always pushing each other to do more and be more, both in and out of the classroom. We care about each other and our students. We have a profound sense of purpose at West; the students there need us. That may be the greatest responsibility and the most rewarding part of our job. There is definitely a family atmosphere at West, and I believe this is what makes our campus stand out from others. We laugh and cut-up AND worry and cry together. I have made lifelong friendships at West, and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. Again, I sincerely thank you for this recognition."
Mrs. Gipson, U.S. History and World Geography Teacher

The Mesquite Schools' Apple Corps program rewards excellence in teaching by honoring outstanding MISD teachers.
Begun in January, 1990, this honorary program inducts two new teachers each month at the regular meeting of the District's Board of Trustees. These excellent educators are chosen from a pool of teachers who have been nominated by their peers at each school. The elite group enjoys many forms of public recognition and appreciation each year. Congraultions, Mrs. Gipson!

Congratulations to the students and all of the WM students who attended the camp.
