Best Care Anywhere

Counseling Model Logo

Best Care Anywhere is a wrap-around counseling services program that encompasses the following:

  • promoting a positive, nurturing school culture;
  • providing personal and social development for all students;
  • preventing self-harm and harm to others;
  • and providing the "best care anywhere."

MISD counselors encourage students to change the odds in their favor and empower them to become resilient overcomers, choosing their own path with determination to succeed and positively impact the world around them. The program influences the safety and security of students through prevention. A collaboration with Texas A&M-Commerce provides free counseling for parents, students, and community members, and the culture of reporting students in crisis (by staff members and students) has increased MISD's ability to identify, assess, and manage student needs.

We support and nurture INTEGRITY. We take opportunities to discuss self-control, good character, respect, trust, honesty and responsibility. We are committed to choosing what is right over what it easy.

We believe that EMPATHY is central to good parenting, great teaching and job success beyond school. We strive to give students the gifts of kindness, compassion and empathy. We believe in stepping outside of our own experiences and working to understand those around us, calling students attention to truly understanding the complexities of others’ situations.

GRIT is valued as we model and discuss tenacity, perseverance and resilience. We celebrate moments when we encounter adversity and failures but refuse to give up.

We appreciate and EMBRACE DIVERSITY. We support the safety and dignity of others by ensuring that all are respected. We believe in bringing people together and recognizing that we are more alike than different.

We demonstrate that SERVING OTHERS is a responsibility and a joy. We believe that service unites people, promotes self esteem and strengthens the community. We value serving others and being a part of something larger than ourselves.
