Comprehensive School Counseling Program

Mesquite ISD provides "wrap-around" comprehensive counseling programs at all of its schools in accordance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) and The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs, 5th edition.  The MISD counseling program won a Texas School Safety Center School Safety Spotlight Award. 

School counseling programs offer a variety of services divided into four areas: guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning, and system support.  Below you will find information about content areas and links to elementary and secondary specific services.  

Guidance Content Areas

Intrapersonal Effectiveness

  • Positive student self-concept 
  • Effective executive functioning skills 
  • Appropriate behavior to the situation and environment

Interpersonal Effectiveness

  • Effective interactions with diverse populations

Post-Secondary Planning and Career Readiness
