Since opening its doors in 2021, Vanguard has offered a dynamic educational pathway that goes beyond the traditional. We combine hands-on, industry-driven learning with academic excellence, giving students the skills and certifications needed for success from day one after graduation. Unlike traditional high schools, Vanguard High School is designed for students who want to dive deeper into their passions and focus on their future career dreams. With 15 specialized programs of study organized into four distinct schools—Construction Science, Engineering, Health Science, and Technology—your student will gain practical, real-world skills and certifications that set them apart. Our goal is to ensure that every graduate is ready to thrive in their chosen field and equipped to make meaningful contributions to the Mesquite community and beyond.

Specialized Programs for Every Passion

 

1. School of Construction Science

• Architectural Design: Students explore architectural principles through hands-on projects using tools like vinyl cutters, milling machines, and 3D printers. They develop professional portfolios and earn industry certifications to prepare for careers in designing and managing environments.

• Construction Technology: This program offers training in residential and commercial construction, emphasizing skills in using hand and power tools, specialized equipment, and modern construction technology.

 

2. School of Engineering

• Automotive Collision & Automotive Technology: Students gain hands-on experience in vehicle restoration, repair, and diagnostics using industry-standard equipment such as alignment computers and repair racks.

• Engineering: Students delve into all aspects of engineering and design, from concept to production, using advanced equipment like CNC machines, laser cutters, and 3D printers.
• Robotics: This program offers an in-depth look at robotics and automation, teaching students programming and maintenance of automated systems.

 

3. School of Health Science

• Firefighter & Emergency Medical Technician (EMT): Through partnerships with professional first responders, students learn fire prevention, emergency medicine, and can earn an associate degree from Dallas College.
• Pharmacy Technician & Medical Technician (Phlebotomy): Students gain practical experience in pharmacology and medical diagnostics, such as performing electrocardiograms and phlebotomy.
• Medical Assistant & Therapy Occupations: These programs provide training in supporting physicians and rehabilitative therapy, equipping students to work in clinic and therapy settings.

• Dental Assistant: Students are prepared to support dental office operations and assist dentists in various procedures.

 

4. School of Technology

• Computer Science: Focusing on the foundations of computer science and problem-solving, students engage with coding, software development, and modern technologies.
• Graphic Design: Students explore creativity and design using Adobe Creative Cloud and other industry-standard software.

Vanguard’s programs have already achieved notable success. One of the standout accomplishments includes the national title won by the school’s Architectural Design Team at the TSA Conference. Enrollment Information

To be considered for placement at Vanguard High School, Mesquite ISD students should submit their interest form by December 20 on Skyward. This ensures eligibility for the upcoming academic year and a chance to embark on a transformative educational journey unlike any other. Students who are not currently enrolled in a Mesquite ISD school or live outside of district boundaries must follow the steps outlined on the Non-MISD & Out-of-District Students Admissions webpage to be considered for Vanguard admission.
