Dr. Linda Henrie, MISD Superintendent
Dr. Linda Henrie began her career with Mesquite ISD as a business teacher at Mesquite High School. Prior to assuming the role of Superintendent on July 1, 2005, Dr. Henrie served as deputy superintendent for four years and in other administrative positions for 15 years. This is her 40th year in Mesquite ISD.
Dr. Henrie believes that active involvement in professional activities improves a person's vision and networking ability. She demonstrates this through membership in various organizations including Texas Association of School Administrators; Mesquite Education Association; Staff Development Council, both at the state and national levels; and Texas ASCD, where she has served in various capacities, including President for two years. At this time, she is also serving as Chair of the UIL Legislative Council and is a member of the Board of Directors for both the National Federation of State High School Associations and Workforce Solutions of Greater Dallas.
During her tenure, Mesquite ISD earned Recognized status in 2010 and 2011 and received several admirable honors, including the Texas Award for Performance Excellence from Quality Texas, membership in the Comptroller's Gold Leadership Circle, and recognition as a large-district finalist in the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards for two consecutive years. Mesquite ISD is also one of only 32 public school districts to earn the highest rating of five stars on the 2010 Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST), which indicates success in combining cost-effective spending with the achievement of measurable student academic progress.
Dr. Henrie has also received personal recognition as the recipient of Mesquite Social Services' Women in Service and Enterprise award, Texas ASCD's Brownlee Leadership Award, and most recently, the ATPE's 2011 Administrator Educator of the Year honor.
