Grievances
Issue and Complaint Resolution Procedure
Mesquite ISD encourages parents, students, staff, and community members to raise concerns with their school or school system as soon as an issue arises. If informal efforts—such as speaking with a teacher or administrator—don't resolve the issue, every school system is required to offer a formal grievance process.
Step 1: Contact appropriate school staff
- The most direct route to resolving a concern is for parents/guardians to first confer directly with the involved party (e.g., teacher, coach).
- More than 95% of concerns are resolved through a conversation between the parties involved.
Step 2: Contact the campus administrator
- Campus administrators are responsible for the school's operations.
- Clarification of school policies and procedures can be provided.
- If necessary, conferences with involved parties can be arranged, and a suitable solution can be reached.
