West Mesquite Football players help with Toy drive at Mackey Elementary

West Mesquite Wrangler Football Team help with Mackey Holiday Toy DriveThe West Mesquite Wrangler Football Team jumped into the giving spirit by participating in the Mackey Elementary Holiday Toy Drive. Toys, bicycles, gift cards and clothes were wrapped with care and handed out to families by faculty members at Mackey and players of the West Mesquite Football Team Thursday evening. The toy drive is sponsored by generous donors from multiple businesses who provided gifts for the children at Mackey Elementary School who might otherwise not have presents under the tree Christmas morning. Janette Cross, a counselor at Mackey, organized the event that brought smiles and sometimes tears of joy to families whose children attend school at Mackey Elementary. This annual event provided much needed gifts for all the families involved and it continues to spread the spirit of giving this holiday season.

PHS Football Players Clean Up

MISD Athletic NewsAugust 13, 2011 was like most summer days this past summer, it was hot.
Despite the extreme weather conditions, a group of Poteet
Football players and a few of their coaches decided to battle the heat
and they organized a community service project that they called, "The
Creek Bed Clean Up". At a creek near the intersection of Galloway Avenue and Americana Drive, the group gathered over ten 40-gallon bags of debris, including weeds, plastic bags and plastic bottles. They also picked up shrubs and branches in and around the creek bed. Their efforts should help prevent clean-up costs for this waterway area.

MISD Coaches Selected by THSCA
Randy Jackson, head football coach at Poteet High School, has been selected as the Region 3 nominee to coach in the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) All-Star football game. The game will be played in San Antonio as part of the THSCA's annual coaching school in July 2012.
