About the John Horn Jaguar Library

The Jaguar Library provides multiple information sources including reference and fiction books, magazines, news-papers, videos and DVDs, CDs, audio books, and online databases. MISD provides access to a virtual library through Power Search on the Databases page of the library website. Students may use 22 internet accessible computers. There is a comfortable area for leisure reading and a conference table for scheduled meetings. There is a classroom area wired for use of laptops and data projector.

HOURS:  The Jaguar library is open from 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the convenience of students and staff.

POLICIES

PASSES: During the school day, official "pink" passes are required to come to the library. This includes all lunch periods and

4th period for students who have early release.

SIGNING-IN: All students entering the library during school hours should sign-in in the notebook at the circulation desk. Student signatures are necessary to determine library statistics.

CHECK-OUT: A student I.D. is required to check out materials. Students may check out 4 books at a time and possibly more for class assignments. The check-out period is 2 weeks. Videos are checked out for one week. Magazines can be checked out for 3 days.

PRINTING: Students may print from the computers for 5 cents a page. Be careful to click on "Print" one time. (Ask your librarians for money saving advice.) A copier is available that prints for 10 cents a page.

FOOD/DRINK: No outside food or drink is allowed. The Jag Cafe Cappuccino and Hot Chocolate are available on specially scheduled days before school for $1.00 a cup and must be kept in the study or reading area and not near the computers.
