Libraries support the TEKS/TAKS Objectives by providing such things as:
- Bluebonnet and Mockingbird Book Reading Programs which encourage students to read various genres of literature
- Research Projects at each grade level which use critical thinking skills, inquiry-based learning, and emphasis on questioning skills
- Insight into understanding literary elements in books such as inference, irony, allusion, foreshadow, simile, tone, etc. which are discussed and used with read alouds
- Books, online websites, technical support, and equipment (laptops, iPads, eReaders and more) which provide support for the curriculum at all grade levels
Working together:
- Librarians and teachers work collaboratively in all grade levels to develop information literacy units. A list of these units can be found under "Research Projects". These research/informational literacy projects correspond to TEKS/TAKS objectives and classroom curriculum.
