Librarian:

Mrs. Cushing has been a librarian for seven years, and  taught English and History eight years prior to becoming a librarian. While in Mesquite ISD, she has worked at McDonald Middle School, Mackey Elementary, and Mesquite High School.

Mrs. Cushing's Education:

Bachelor of Arts in English – University of Texas of the Permian Basin

   Master of Library Science – Texas Woman’s University

Hours:

Monday – 7:45 – 4:30

Tuesday -- 7:45 – 4:30

Wednesday -- 7:45 – 5:00

Thursday -- 7:45 – 4:30

Friday -- 7:45 – 4:30

Polices:

Self-checkout – Students are allowed to check out their own books if they have their student ID with them, or know their student ID number. New students or students without their number may see Mrs. Cushing or the Library Aide for help with checkout.

Checkout Periods– Books (two weeks), Audio/Playaways (one week), Magazines (three days), Videos/Reference (overnight). If a student needs a particular item for longer than the checkout period Mrs. Cushing may assign special dates for returning those items.

Passes & Sign-in – Within the school day, students must have a pass from teachers to come to the library. Lunch passes may be obtained by Mrs. Cushing before school.  Students must sign-in when they come into the library with a pass.

Magazines – Current magazines remain in the library, but back issues may be checked out for three days. Bring the magazine to the circulation counter and Mrs. Cushing will check it out for you.

Food & Drink – Please keep food out of the library. Drinks may be brought into the library if they have screw-top lids to keep them closed. Coffee and cocoa will be offered for purchase during cooler months. Drinks must remain in the seating areas and away from all computers.
