The library implements strategies to help students in all grade levels with reading comprehension, summarization, prediction, and recalling facts. The library program also addresses the study of genres with specific examples read aloud to classes. Thesse strategies are accomplished by reading Bluebonnet and Mockingbird books as well as specific books selected to enrich whatever unit of study classes are currently engaged in.

There will be multiple lessons on the use of databases available to students in the MISD Library catalog.Each student will have the opportunity to explore NetTrekker, the library catalog itself, World Book Online, and Infotrac's Power Search. Students will have their own laptop in the library for research  and implementation of their findings through graphic organizers and written reports.
