This event is designed to provide resources and services to families as they prepare to start school. Proof of registration is required to enter the event when it opens at 8 a.m. You may print out your tickets or show them on your phone at the door.

FREE Immunizations and Physicals

A local hospital/doctors will be providing free immunizations on a first-come, first-served basis.  Athletes will also be able to receive free sports physicals. Each student must bring a copy of his or her shot records. 

The Sharing Life location may not have these services available.

FREE Haircuts for Mesquite ISD Students

Licensed cosmetologists will be providing free haircuts to students entering grades K-12.

The Sharing Life location may not have these services available.

Vision and Dental Screenings

A team of optometrists and dental hygienists will be providing basic vision and dental screenings. Referrals for medical care will be given as needed.

Grade-specific Backpacks Full of Supplies

Students entering grades K-12 will have the opportunity to receive a backpack full of supplies specific to his  or her school level. Backpacks will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

What is the Mesquite ISD Back to School Fair?

The fair is a FREE community event designed to resource families. Backpacks full of school supplies for students entering PK-12th grades is one of the most popular attractions of the event. Immunizations, physicals, haircuts and other services will also be available. This event is sponsored by Mesquite ISD, Sharing Life, The Doctor Spot.

Who is the event for?

The Mesquite Back to School Fair is designed for MISD students entering Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grades. Services are limited to students entering Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grades. Any student under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a guardian age 17 to receive services.

There are three locations:

  • Poteet High School, 3300 Poteet Drive, Mesquite 75150
  • West Mesquite High School, 2500 Memorial Parkway, Mesquite 75149
  • Sharing Life, 3544 Emporium Drive, Mesquite 75150

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not allowed, with the exception of service animals.

Will the event be accessible for wheelchairs and strollers?

Yes, all activities will be located on the first floor, and wheelchair ramps are available.

Can a child pick up a backpack without an adult present? Can I pick up a backpack for a friend?

Only school-aged children accompanied by a guardian age 17 or over can receive a backpack.

What do I need to bring in order to receive immunizations?

In order to receive an immunization you must bring a copy of your shot records.  Local doctors offices will be issuing shots on a first-come, first-served basis.

If I am pre-registered, am I guaranteed to receive a backpack?

No, being pre-registered simply helps you get through the registration line quickly. Backpacks will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. 

What are the requirements for getting a backpack?

Backpacks will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Student must be present to receive a backpack. Each participant will be given an event punch card at registration. Simply complete this card to receive your backpack.

Will food be available at the event?

Coaches and players from the high schools will be grilling hot dogs!
