Board Members

Teia Collier was appointed to the Board in June 2021 to complete the unexpired term of Archimedes Faulkner, who resigned due to illness. She currently serves as CEO and publisher of Teia Collier Brands and brings a dynamic professional background spanning education, media, and wellness. Collier previously worked as an educator at West Mesquite High School and Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools and has also served as a corporate health coach for major insurance companies. Her career later expanded into lifestyle blogging and automotive journalism. In 2017, she re-launched the digital media platform Dallas Single {Mom} Parents to support families nationwide.

Collier is a proud North Mesquite High School graduate and is deeply connected to the community. She is the mother of three children: Zenora, Solomon, and Noah.

Cassandra Morris was elected to the board in May 2026. She is a proud 2000 graduate of Mesquite High School and a longtime Mesquite resident. She serves the community through campus leadership as PTO President at Kimbrough Middle School and through broader civic work as a precinct chair and community organizer.

Morris and her husband Michael are parents to two children, both of whom attend Mesquite ISD schools. As an MISD alum and parent, she brings lived experience, collaboration, and a deep commitment to supporting students, families, and educators across the district.

Morris shares that the most rewarding part of serving as a Board member is being able to listen, learn, and help make decisions that truly make a difference in our classrooms and campuses.

Greg Everett served on the Board for 18 years, from 1991 to 2009, and was re-elected in May 2014. He graduated from North Mesquite High School in 1974 and continued his education at Eastfield College. Now retired, Everett remains a dedicated advocate for Mesquite ISD. He and his wife, Ramona, have three children, Matthew, Daniel, and Emily, and are the proud grandparents of three.

Robert Seward was elected to the Board in 1993. After graduating from Mesquite High School in 1968, he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from North Texas State University in 1976. Seward retired from his career as a senior accounting specialist with Luminant and served as president of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) during the 2008-09 school year. He also proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1975, an experience that helped shape his lifelong commitment to duty, integrity, and service to others.

Seward shares that serving as a Board member is most rewarding because it allows him to make a meaningful difference for students while strengthening the community he has called home for decades. He and his wife, Marjorie, have two children, Craig and Christy, and are proud grandparents to three grandchildren.

Dr. Susan Williams is a former Mesquite ISD employee who dedicated 37 years to education before retiring in 2025. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and completed both her master’s and doctoral degrees at East Texas A&M University.

Dr. Williams and her husband Brent are proud parents of two children, Carissa and Cassidy, both of whom attended Mesquite ISD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade and graduated from John Horn High School. They are also the proud grandparents of one grandson, Jaxson. The Williams family owns Williams Paint and Body in Mesquite, a business that has proudly served the community since 1972.

Dr. Williams shares that the most rewarding part of serving as a Board member is being able to help shape decisions that strengthen our schools, expand opportunities, and positively impact the community.

Kevin Carbó was first elected to the Board in 1996 and served continuously until 2014. He was then re-elected in November 2015. Carbó currently serves the City of Mesquite as Assistant Manager of Purchasing. Deeply committed to education and community service, he began his involvement with Mesquite ISD in the 1980s through active participation as a PTA member.

Carbó and his wife, Jossie, are proud parents of two children, Jessica and Kevin Jr., both of whom attended Mesquite ISD schools from kindergarten through 12th grade and graduated from Mesquite High School. They are also the proud grandparents of six grandchildren. Carbó shares that the most rewarding part of serving as a Board member is advocating for students and having the opportunity to positively influence their growth from Pre-K to graduation.

When is the next board meeting?

Unless otherwise noted, Board meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 6:30 PM in the MISD Board Room, located at the K. David Belt Professional Development Center (3819 Towne Crossing, Mesquite, Texas 75150). 

In accordance with state law, the agenda and location are posted 72 hours prior to the meeting. Additionally, printed copies of the agenda are available at the location at the time of the meeting.

Board Meeting Agendas

The subjects to be discussed or considered or upon which any formal action may be taken are listed on the agenda. Items do not have to be taken in the same order as shown on this meeting notice. Unless removed from the consent agenda, items identified within the consent agenda will be acted on at one time.

Who can attend board meetings?

Pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act, meetings of the Board of Trustees are open to the public and take place at the K. David Belt Professional Development Center, 3819 Towne Crossing Blvd. Those wishing to address the Board regarding an item on the agenda may do so during the audience portion of the meeting.

Audience participation is limited to the portion of the meeting designated to receive public comment in accordance with Policy BED (LOCAL) . At all other times, during a Board meeting, the audience shall not enter into discussion or debate on matters being considered by the Board unless requested by the presiding officer. Public comment is limited to items on the agenda posted with notice of the meeting.

  • Audience participation is limited to the portion of the meeting designated to receive public comment in accordance with Policy BED (LOCAL) . At all other times, during a Board meeting, the audience shall not enter into discussion or debate on matters being considered by the Board unless requested by the presiding officer. Public comment is limited to items on the agenda posted with notice of the meeting. View Meeting Agendas .

    Individuals who wish to participate during the portion of the meeting designated for public comment shall sign up with the presiding officer or designee before the meeting begins and shall indicate the agenda item on which they wish to address the Board. Participation in public comment shall be limited to Mesquite ISD students and their parents, district employees, residents of the district, or owners of businesses located within the district.

    Except as permitted by Policy BED (LOCAL) and the Board's procedures on public comment, an individual's comments to the Board shall not exceed three minutes per meeting.
